The Incident - Lost Season 5 Episode 16 & 17 Review

Written by admin on May 19, 2009

After watching the Finale twice and letting it all sink in I feel ready to write my review. In true Lost style they provided a Finale that was exciting, confusing, action-packed, and above all, ended with a cliffhanger! Remember when we used to wonder what was down The Hatch? We’ve come so far since then, but still Lost has managed to leave us with lots of things to ponder until Season 6!

First things first… say hello to Jacob!

The Incident

Finally, we get to meet the mystery man who was introduced to us way back in season 3 in “The Man Behind The Curtain”. Although, that particular scene in the cabin just doesn’t add up with what we know now after The Incident. In TMBTC, Ben takes Locke to the cabin and has a conversation with what seems to be an empty chair. Ben tries to convince Locke that Jacob is in the chair, and while doing so all hell breaks lose. Ben is pushed back, and we see for a split second someone actually sitting in the chair. Then Locke hears someone say “Help Me”. It’s important to note that Ben doesn’t hear this (well, that’s what we’re led to believe).

Follow The Leader - Lost Season 5 Episode 15 Review

Written by admin on May 11, 2009

What an episode this was. I’ve read alot of reviews that express dissapointment with this episode but I have to disagree - I thought this episode was fantastic. With the reveal of how Richard happened upon an injured Locke during the time jumps, the return of Sayid, and Lockes declaration that he plans on killing Jacob. Not to mention that Dr Chang now believes the Losties are from the future… what a jam-packed episode this was!

So let’s begin…

The Richard / Locke encounter

Follow The Leader

In Because You Left, during the time jumps, we see an injured Locke get help from Richard. Richard doesn’t have much time to explain what is happening to Locke, but the conversation ends like so:

The Variable - Lost Season 5 Episode 14 Review

Written by admin on May 11, 2009

Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? Nobody knows. Lost seems to have put a new spin on that question with this episode.

Which came first…?

RICHARD: Why did you do that?

ELOISE: He had a gun on you.

RICHARD: He wasn’t gonna shoot me, Eloise.

FARADAY: Eloise. [Gasping] You knew. You always knew. [Panting] You knew this was gonna happen. You sent me here anyway.

ELOISE: Who are you?

FARADAY: I… I’m your son. [Gasps]

The Variable

So, in 1977 Eloise shoots an old Daniel Faraday who comes into their camp armed with a gun. Seems like a reasonable thing to do given that he seems threatening. As he lays dying he tells Eloise that he is her son and she sent him there knowing full well that she’d shoot him.

Some Like It Hoth - Lost Season 5 Episode 13 Review

Written by admin on May 11, 2009

Some Like It Hoth

LARA: What were you doing in here?

MILES: He… he was all alone. He was scared. His chest hurt. He kept calling out for Kimberly.

TREVOR: Kimberly? That’s his wife. No, she died last year. Now, how would you know that?

MILES: I heard him.

LARA: Miles, what are you talking about?

MILES: He’s still talking right now.

LARA: Honey… he’s dead.

MILES: I told you! I can hear him! I can hear him!

So, this must be the first time Miles discovered he can talk (or at least listen) to the dead. How long has he had this ability before realising it? Can he have actual conversations with the dead or is he just able to hear their thoughts?

Dead is Dead - Lost Season 5 Episode 12 Review

Written by admin on April 19, 2009

So, this episode was all about Ben and answered some questions, old and new. Just how did Alex get taken from Danielle? How did Widmore leave the island? Did Ben kill Penny?

Let us Begin!…

Danielle

Dead is Dead

ROUSSEAU: Please, don’t take my Alex!

BEN: Do you want your baby to live?

ROUSSEAU: Why are you taking her?!

BEN: Be grateful you’re still alive. Now you listen to me. If you try to follow me or if you ever come looking for me, I’ll kill you. And if you want your child to live, every time you hear whispers, you run the other way.

So we see a young Ben, accompanied by a young Ethan, take Alex away from Danielle. We learn that Bens mission was to kill Danielle but Ben didn’t know she had a baby. When Ben sees the baby he has a change of heart and decides not to kill Danielle, but takes baby Alex with him. This may answer the age-old question of “How did Alex get taken by The Others”, but opens up so many other questions.

The big question being: Why doesn’t Danielle remember Ben?

Whatever Happened, Happened - Lost Season 5 Episode 11 Review

Written by admin on April 9, 2009

I was half expecting this episode to be about Daniel Faraday, and his “Whatever Happened, Happened” philosophy. However, it was about Kate, and what she did with Aaron. (Was anyone else expecting the “What Kate did with Aaron” episode to be called “What Kate Did Part 2″?).

Whatever Happened, Happened

Anyway, it was nice to see Lost tie up a question that was only raised a few episodes earlier - just what did Kate do with Aaron?

He’s Our You - Lost Season 5 Episode 10 Review

Written by admin on March 31, 2009

He’s Our You - With that being the title of this episode I had visions of there being two versions of one of our Losties trapped in the same time frame. I didn’t know it was a Sayid centric episode so for me, I couldn’t even begin to fathom who or what is who’s you - ;)

He's Our You

Nevertheless, as the episode evolved it became clear that the Dharma folk had a “torturer” type person who was their version of Sayid. However, I don’t think Oldham could kick ass the way Sayid does. He had to have help restraining Sayid - it doesn’t say much about their “Sayid” now does it?

Anyway, let’s get on with the show! I’ll leave the best for last ;)

Namaste - Lost Season 5 Episode 9 Review

Written by admin on March 23, 2009

After waiting two weeks for this episode I really wasn’t dissapointed with the outcome. More answers came with this episode, but with true Lost fashion, for every question answered, 10 more questions arise. ;)

Let us begin!

Where on Earth is Daniel?

Namaste

SAWYER: Faraday’s got some interesting theories on what we can and can’t do here.

JACK: Did you say Faraday? He’s here?

SAWYER: Not anymore.

So, what has happened to Daniel? In Because You Left we saw Daniel working in the Orchid station with Pierre Chang present. Was this before 1977 or after?

LaFleur - Lost Season 5 Episode 8 Review

Written by admin on March 14, 2009

In this episode we finally get to see what happened to Sawyer and co. between Locke turning the Donkey Wheel and the return of the Oceanic Six.

Charlotte?

LaFleur

FARADAY: [Muttering] I’m not gonna tell her. Don’t even tell her. I won’t.

FARADAY: [Mutters indistinctly] No. I won’t do it. I won’t tell her. I won’t do it. Won’t…

JULIET: Daniel? You okay?

FARADAY: I’m not gonna do it. I’m not gonna tell her.

JULIET: Daniel, where’s Charlotte?

FARADAY: She’s not here. She… She’s gone.

JULIET: Where?

FARADAY: She’s… dead. She’s dead. There was another flash, and… and she was… she was just gone.

So, their last jump through time caused Charlottes body to dissapear. Does this mean that if you die in a certain time you don’t time jump like your alive companions? Or, did something change? Did Daniel decide not to tell young Charlotte that she’d die if she returned, therefore changing her fate? If this were true, however, Daniel and co. wouldn’t remember her.

I’ve got a theory that Charlotte could still be alive. She didn’t arrive in the 70s with Daniel and co. so wherever they were before that, perhaps someone stumbled upon her body and revived her? For all Daniel knows she is dead, but what if she isn’t? What if she is somewhere in the past, or the future? Only time will tell! (Sorry… ;) ).
