The Economist - Lost Season 4 Episode 3 Review

So, this episode starts on-island with a close up of Sayid. As most of the beginning is focused on him it seems obvious that this was going to be a Sayid episode.
The next scene starts with Sayid playing golf in a nice secluded area - he seems to be free. A man comes up to him and they put a wager on who will get closest to the pin. After their little bit of fun, Sayid tells the man he is a survivor of Oceanic Flight 815, and is one of the Oceanic 6. This seemed to make the man a little nervous and seemed to want to get away from Sayid as soon as possible, but before he had a chance, Sayid SHOT him!
What has happened to Sayid? Had he turned into an assasin? Was he on some sort of revenge kick and the guy he shot was part of the conspiracy behind the fake discovery of the plane? At this point I didn’t have a clue (but that’s one of the many things I love about this show!).
On-Island, Sayid does a deal with the pilot of the helicopter - he’ll go get Charlotte safe and sound from Locke and if he does Sayid gets a place on the helicopter to go back to the frieghter.
In the mean time, Dan does some weird test to receive something from the frieghter via Regina. He calls her and she tell him this thing is on its way - when she tells him it’s arrived he looks confused as it doesn’t appear to be that way. Later on, he does receive this thing, and it turns out it’s a clock - he compares it to a clock he has on-island and they’re two different times. It has 31 minutes difference. Does this mean the Island is 31 minutes behind normal time? It certainly does seem to be looking that time has something to do with this show! I guess that’s something we’ll find out in the next episode (or not! ;) ).
Back to Sayid and his flash forward, and he’s in Berlin speaking to a woman. He makes a date with her, and afterwards makes a phone call to a mysterious man telling him he has “made contact”. Made contact with who exactly? And who does Sayid work for now? Questions, questions, questions ;)
Back to the Island, and Locke and co. have arrived at where Jacob’s cabin was the first time Locke went there. It seems to have disappeared! Could the cabin Hurley saw in episode one be the REAL cabin and not some figment of his imagination? Is it a magical cabin that moves around the Island?! After “realising” they’re in the wrong place, Locke takes everyone to the barracks where the Others used to live.
Sayid, Kate and Miles arrive at the barracks and hear someone mumbling for help in one of the houses. They quickly go to investigate and it turns out to be… Hurley?! Has Locke really gone off his rocker this time? Hurley tells them they’re going to Bens house before going off somewhere else. Sayid takes a look around and discovers a secret room where there is a lot of foreign currency and lots of passports with Bens face on them. Now there’s a surprise! ;)
Locke and Sayid have a discussion and Sayid tells him he wants Charlotte. Locke tells him he isn’t going to give him Charlotte without anything in return. This is where Sayid has a cunning plan (and seems to have had this plan all along!)… he exchanges Miles for Charlotte! This guaranteeing his place on the helicopter!
Back to the flash forward and Sayid warns the woman about her boss after she receives a page from him. He tells her he isn’t who she thinks he is, but the tables are soon turned when the woman shoots Sayid! It turns out she was after Sayid all along, and was demanding to know who he was working for! Sayid didn’t tell her, instead he killed her (just as Sayid does! ;) ).
He goes to a veterinary place to get his wound looked at by the mysterious man he is working for. It turns out that this mysterious man isn’t as mysterious as we think! It’s BEN! Ben has given Sayid a “list” of people to kill. Could these people be a part of the group behind Naomi and the freighter? Naomi and the woman Sayid killed seemed to share the same bracelet. Is this some sort of attire this group has to wear?
Just what exactly did happen on the Island after the Oceanic 6 were “rescued”?!
This episode has only made me ask more questions but it’s because of that that I love this show!
