Lost Via Domus

After succesfully completing this game last night on the PC, only one word comes to mind that can describe it, and that is… dissapointing.

I started playing this game on Sunday evening and within three days I’d completed it (only playing for a couple of hours each day). In total I’d say there is about 6-8 hours of “gameplay” in this game.

As a huge Lost fan I was expecting alot more from this game, but I think the creators spent too much time on making it look pretty rather than actual gameplay/storyline.

The voices of the characters are shameful. The worst out of the lot is probably Charlie - the person who did his voiceover did a terrible job! The look of the characters were ok but there were a couple that didn’t look like who they were supposed to be (ie. Michael!).

There isn’t any proper action or gameplay to this. You get to shoot a gun a couple of times but you can only draw it when you need to - I’d expect you to be able to use the gun at anytime incase you want to shoot at random things etc. The puzzles are repetitive. Or should I say puzzle! There are so many fuse boxes you have to fix in this game that it becomes a bit tedious! And where are all the adventures? Not once did the main character get to go on a hike with Kate and co.

I was also expecting this game to keep up with the story of what had happened. One minute Locke had found a hatch, the next everyone was going inside the hatch (no explaination of Locke blowing it up). If I hadn’t watched Lost before I would’ve had no idea what had just happened.

You definately need to be a fan of the TV show to enjoy this game.

The ending was very weird and very disappointing. It was at that point in the game I was really getting into it, when BAM - roll credits and it’s over!

I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone, even if you are a Lost fan. It was a pointless waste of time.

Overall: 5/10 (and that’s being generous!)

I loved the fact that in this game you had your own story to live out that intertwined with everyone else in lost. Having said that, you are right…not enough to it.

I do understand that they could only involve you so much with what had already happened in lost. Forcing the character in with what we now already happened would seem a bit repetitive. The way they chose to fit the character in wasn’t that great as it seemed like most of the time the interaction with people just involve them not trusting you.

This game had a lot of potential. I would have liked to maybe have seen the character have a larger story of his own on the island rather than focusing on the flashbacks. Maybe he had landed with the tail section and we learn more about what happened there. Maybe he was launched out of the plane into the ocean and washed up to join the others. There would be so much potential for clues.
