The Other Woman - Lost Season 4 Episode 6 Review
Written by admin on March 11, 2008
This episode, to me personally, was really poor compared to the high standards of the previous 5 episodes. Nevertheless - not all Lost episodes can be exciting and revealing and even though I was bored with this episode, I’m not going to hold that against the writers!
So, this episode starts off with Juliet talking to what appears to be a shrink. Juliet explains that it’s been a week, and she feels like she’s a celebrity. To me, that sparked off thoughts of Juliet actually being one of the Oceanic Six! But that could not be… Juliet wasn’t even on the plane! Two minutes later it’s clarified that this is actually a flashback of Juliet’s time on the Island.
At camp Jack it appears Dan and Charlotte have gone walkies and he and Juliet decide to go after them. Out in the middle of the jungle, the rain pours, and the whispers start… the “shrink” who Juliet was speaking to in her flashback appeared to Juliet in the rain, telling her she needs to find Dan and Charlotte, and she needs to kill them… on Ben’s orders! How on earth does she know what Ben’s orders are?! He’s locked up at camp Locke… oh, wait a minute. Does Ben have phsychic powers?! Has he got the gift of ESP?! Who knows, we were too busy wondering how this woman appeared to Juliet in the first place… and then vanished!
Why haven’t we seen this “Other Woman” before? Hmm…
Throughout Juliet’s flashbacks she is seen with Goodwin, who turns out is married to Juliet’s mysterious “shrink”. Ooops. Her shrink knows about Juliet and Goodwins affair and warns Juliet to stay away because she doesn’t want Goodwin to get hurt. Juliet assures her she would never do anything to hurt him, but her shrink was referring to Ben hurting him! Why would Ben hurt Goodwin for having an affair with Juliet?! Oh, that’s right, he has a crush on Juliet! Didn’t see that coming! ;)
Dan and Charlotte are in the middle of the Jungle when along comes Kate. Kate is immediately suspicious of the two and asks to see what’s inside their bag. Kate takes a look with her back turned to Charlotte and sees they have gas masks in their bag! Before Kate could ask them anything she gets hit over the head by Charlotte! Come on Kate, you didn’t see that one coming?!
At camp Locke Ben tells Locke he has some interesting information for him, and he is willing to share it for his freedom. Locke seemed adamant at first that he wasn’t interested but soon relented. Upstairs in Bens/Lockes house, Ben shows Locke a video tape of a Mr Charles Widmore who, from what we could see, was badly beating up one of Bens men (or so he says). Apparantly, the frieghter that is off-Island belongs to Charles Widmore who has been looking for the Island for years and wants to exploit the Island. Locke seems willing to trust Ben and let him go… as long as Ben tells him who his man on the boat is. Ben tells Locke he should sit down before telling him, and we’re waiting for that moment, when bam! — it goes to the next scene! I guess we’re not going to find that out until next week! (Maybe!)
Back to camp Jack - Jack and Juliet stumble accross Kate a bit later on and Kate tells them that Dan and Charlotte have gas masks. Juliet lets Jack and Kate be while she continues the hunt for the two “frieghties”. When Juliet comes accross them at the Tempest they’re both wearing gas masks and Dan is using the computer to do something. Juliet threatens to shoot Dan, but she is interupted by Charlotte which is then cue for them to have a cat fight! Meow!
Charlotte insists that they’re not planning on gassing the Island, more saving the island from ever being gassed again (or Ben gassing them again!). Juliet relents and the task is done.
Back to the flash back and Ben takes Juliet to the dead body of Goodwin. Completely emotional Juliet demands to know why Ben brought her there when Ben knows about their affair. Ben told Juliet that she’s his, and Juliet told Ben that he knew this would happen.
On the Island Juliet tells Jack that Ben thinks she’s his and Jack ought to stay away from her because Ben knows how she feels about him. Jack didn’t seem to care though as he kissed Juliet! Now what is Kate going to do?! ;)
Back at camp Locke Ben is seen wandering around the barracks, which surely doesn’t impress Sawyer and Hurley! I’m guessing the information Ben gave Locke was worth Ben’s freedom afterall! Hmm…
