Is Danielle Rousseau Dead?
Written by admin on April 8, 2008So, is the French Chick we’ve all come to know and love really dead? It seems the writers wanted to leave us in suspenders with this cliff-hanger of an ending to the latest episode (Meet Kevin Johnson). But is it really just Lost’s way of keeping us guessing, or is she really… dead?
What we don’t know about Danielle yet:
- What really happened to her crew?
- Did her crew really get sick?
- Did she really kill her crew?
- What has she been doing on the Island for 16 years other than hiding away and setting traps?
- Is she connected somehow to any other Island inhabitant other than Alex?
All these questions I think are enough to warrant us with a Danielle Flashback episode, therefore I don’t think she is dead. Danielle is too much of an important character to the Lost story to just kill her off like that.
What do you think? Is Danielle Rousseau really dead?

I think that the fans think that “Danielle” is much more important than TPTB ever have. The show has never made an attempt to put the actress under contract, even one with a limited guarantee. So she’s a free agent, and if she gets another offer she’s going to take it, rather than sitting around hoping her phone will ring.
This whole shooting storyline was driven by the fact that no one knew how long the writer’s strike was going to last and that Mira Furlan had taken a role in a movie (”Turneja”)that was shooting in Europe and was going to be unavailable for a number of months.
Is “Danielle” dead? Probably not. Will we ever see her again? Who knows? I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah I figured the ending of the episode was meant to be a cliff-hanger like that because at the time no one knew if they’d get to finish off the season the way they wanted to and they needed to end it with suspense.
The writers may have written it like that to see how the fans react, to see just how Danielle is seen amongst us Lost fans, and then decide if she lives or dies.
It could just be that we won’t know her fate until the next season, or maybe even season 6!
Heck, they could have us all thinking she’s dead and then in the last episode of season 6 she turns up alive and well and it’s revealed she’s Jacob! ;)
Ok, gone a bit too far there hehe :)
