There’s No Place Like Home (Part One) - Lost Season 4 Episode 12 Review

There’s No Place Like Home

This episode opens up with a view of the sky, and presumably an airplane. My first thought were they were showing the crash again from the pilots point of view, but when I saw the pilots I knew it couldn’t be as neither of them looked like the Pilot who died allll the way back in Season One, in the episode “Pilot”.

A woman who is on the plane is told that they’ll be landing soon so she says she’ll go let “them” know. Who’s them? It didn’t take long for us to find out as on the back of this plane were Jack, Hurley, Sun, Sayid, and Kate and Aaron (also know as the Oceanic Six!).

The title of this episode was a very big clue in what it’d be about, I kinda knew it’d have to be how they were rescued.

The woman speaks with them and tells them they’ll be asked lots of questions. Jack tells the others that they need to stick to the story and that if they get stuck on any question you don’t have to answer - “they’ll think you’re in shock”. Sun looks at Jack and says “We are in Shock, Jack”.

When the plane lands they are greeted by loved ones, well, all apart from Kate and Sayid.

Back on the Island Jack is discussing with the other Losties whether or not to follow the helicopter. Juliet tries to pursuade Jack not to go because of his recent surgery, but he is persistant and decides to go anyway: with Kate in tow (Ahhh, just like the old days! ;) ).

Whilst Jack and Kate are in the jungle they hear noises and immediately put their guns up incase it’s one of the bad guys. It turns out to be Miles, followed by Saywer who is holding Aaron. Kate looks shocked to see Aaron and wonders where Claire is. Sawyer tells them they looked for her for a day but couldn’t find her. Jack tells Sawyer that he and Kate are going to find the helicopter and Sawyer tells them all about how they tried to kill everyone at the barracks. Jack isn’t put off though and starts heading toward the helicopter again. Kate now has Aaron so Sawyer decides to go with Jack.

Back to the flashforward: At the press conference the woman who was on the plane was describing how they survived 108 days and how they eventually were rescued. The story she gave wasn’t anything like what had happened, and although we’ve always known there’s a cover story, the woman didn’t seem “sinister” enough to be a part of a corporation that has forced the O6 to lie about what happened. This makes me wonder if perhaps they were told tell a lie before they were rescued, and that the woman is as clueless as the rest of the world? Hmm, seems doubtful, but anything could happen in LOST.

At the press conference the Oceanic Six were asked a number of questions. Kate was asked how it was to give birth on the Island and how old Aaron was. She told them Aaron was a little over 5 weeks (which is about a month younger than he actually is). The guy who asked her those questions is suspicious of how Kate must’ve been 6 months pregnant when the marshall was bringing her back, yet she didn’t show a bump. The question was immediatly stopped by the woman on the plane who told them that no questions about her case were to be asked.

Hurley was asked if he was happy that he’s going to get his $150m back, to which he replied that he didn’t want it.

And then Sun was asked if Jin was one of the survivors that had died on the Island, to which she replied that he didn’t actually make it off the plane.

After the conference Sayid is told there is a woman waiting outside who says she knows him. He goes to see who it is, and it is Nadia, his long lost love. Awww.

On the Island we see Sayid pull up in his sailboat and tells everyone he will be taking people back to the freighter six at a time. Juliet tells Sayid about Jacks disappearing act and looks slightly worried about it.

Locke, Ben and Hurley are on their way to “move the Island” at a place called the Orchid (which is where the boys in the helicopter are headed). Hurley questions Ben all about it and Ben tells them that moving the island is both dangerous and unpredictable and should only be used as a last resort. Sounds intriguing.

Ben stops to find a box that he’d hidden to find a mirror and binoculars. He uses the mirror to communicate with someone (presumably the Others?). When he’s finished they carry on on their trek to the Orchid.

At camp Jack, Daniel persuades Sayid to let him start taking back to the freighter whilst Sayid goes off on the hunt for Jack. Sayid gives in and tells Daniel he can do it. Just as they were setting off Kate comes running back to the beach with Aaron and tells Sayid that she wants to go with him as she can follow their tracks. Kate hands Aaron over to Sun who is now on the boat ready to go to the freighter.

In the flash forward we see a pregnant Sun go to see her father at his office. What seems to be a little father-daughter catchup turns into something more deviant. When her father asks about the pregnancy, Sun tells him to stop pretending to show an interest in her baby and that she knows he never liked Jin and that he made Jins life hell. She also blames him for Jins “death”. Sun tells him that Oceanic paid out quite a generous settlement and that she has just bought a very controlling share in his business. Her father didn’t look too happy ;)

Over at Hurley’s house he is thrown a surprise party by his parents. Kate and Aaron are there, and so are Sayid and Nadia. Didn’t see any sign of Jack though? Hurley’s father wants to show him his birthday present, and when they go to see it Hurley is surprised to see it is the car he and his father started working on when he was younger, it was all done up and looked very sweet! Hurley got in the car to give it a test drive, but what appeared on the dash? 4815162342. Hurley asked his father if it was some kind of joke but his father didn’t have a clue. Hurley ran off saying he didn’t want the car!

On the Island Ben and co. have stopped as they appear to have arrived at the Orchid. Ben uses his binoculars to see that the Freighter crew have already got there and are waiting outside with guns. Nice.

The small sailboat arrives back at the Freighter and Desmond gives everyone a hand to get on safely, whilst Daniel heads back to the Island to pick up some more people. Sun and Jin overhear someone telling Desmond that the communications equipment has been fixed. They both seem to recognise the voice and turn around to see it is Michael.

Desmond tells the person controlling the Freighter that it is now safe to head back to the Island, but he says that something is blocking the signal and isn’t going anywhere until they find out what it is. Desmond says he’ll go have a look.

On the Island Jack and Sawyer come accross the helicopter with Frank handcuffed to it. Frank tells them that Keamy and co. have gone to the Orchid to get Ben and that he won’t hesitate to kill anyone who’s with him. Sawyer looks sad and tells Jack that Hurley is with them.

Back to the flash forward and we are now at Christian Shepherds funeral (or memorial, as there is no body to be buried). When everyone is leaving Jack is approached by an Australian woman who tells Jack that she thinks she’s responsible for Christians death. Jack looks confused but the woman went on to explain that Christian came to see his daughter, her daughter, and that the weird thing about it all was that her daughter was on the same flight, but died on impact with the water. The woman tells Jack her name: Claire. As soon as Jack hears the name Claire he looks very shocked and remorseful. When the woman leaves Jack looks over in Kates direction who is holding Aaron. Jack now knows that Aaron is his nephew! (At long last ;) ).

Back on the freighter Desmond panic-stricken shouts for Micheal to come take a look at something. They are followed by Sun and Jin and have gone to a room wired with explosives! (Presumably the thing on Keamy’s arm controls it). The freighter doesn’t look like such a safe place now, does it?

In the jungle Kate and Sayid are still following tracks, but Kate tells them they’re not Jacks or Sawyers and that they’re fresh ones that seem to be circling. Sayid shouts out to the jungle to whoever is following them to come out and show themselves. They are greeted by Richard Alpert! Richard repeatedly tells them to put their guns down but they won’t - until all the Others appear around them with guns pointed on them. Ooops.

At the Orchid Ben tells Locke what to do inside the Orchid, but Locke is confused as to why he’d be going in without Ben. Ben tells them he has a plan. Ben decides to go alone to the Orchid and give himself up to Keamy and co. When they see him there Keamy knocks him out with his gun.

And that’s the end of that!

So we have the Oceanic Six who are Jack, Hurley, Sun, Sayid, and Kate and Aaron but they all seem to be in different places of the Island.

Jack is with Sawyer presumably on their way to the Orchid to save Hurley.

Hurley is with Locke at the Orchid.

Sun and Aaron are on the Freighter.

Sayid and Kate are being held by the Others.

It really is going to make for an exciting finale to see just how the Oceanic Six got ended up back together and getting rescued! I can’t wait!

The US will see it tonight, but luckily there isn’t a ten day delay anymore so I will get to see the finale on Sunday night! I’m going to have to avoid all LOST sites between the time it’s aired in the US and the time it’s shown in the UK - but it won’t be for long!

What do you guys think will happen?
