Written by admin on August 19, 2009Note: this is a look back at earlier episodes to give a general review and to write about the mysteries as they unfold.
Character Episode: Hurley
Quick Recap on Flashback:
Hurley is watching the lottery results on the television to which he has a winning ticket. He faints with the shock of winning, and when his mum sees to him he hides the fact that he’s won the lottery and tells her it must’ve been something he ate. Hurleys mum tells him he needs to change his lifestyle, but Hurley likes his life the way it is.

Despite winning the lottery, Hurley still goes to work, but he is called in to the managers office by a guy called Randy, and given a telling off for eating pieces of chicken while working. His manager is going on and on to Hurley and in the end Hurley quits his job.
Outside, Hurleys work friend, Johnny, joins him near his car to see if he is ok. Johnny reveals that he has quit too and they both set off to enjoy a fun day together.

They go to a record store where they both listen to You All Everybody by Driveshaft. Afterwards Hurley goes to speak with a girl at the counter who he seems to have a crush on. He asks her out on a date and she agrees. Johnny seems suspicious of Hurley’s new behaviour and asks him what’s going on. Hurley says he just wanted to ask her out before… but he didn’t finish his sentence.
Later, they steal garden gnomes from someones garden and use them to spell out the words “Cluck You” in Randy’s front garden. When they drive away Hurley makes Johnny promise him that no matter what happens in the future, that they’ll always stay the same.
They drive past a store and Johnny notices a news crew outside. Hurley is hesitant to see what’s going on as he knows it has something to do with him winning the lottery, but Johnny wants to find out what’s going on. He finds out that someone won the lottery and when the store owner spots Hurley he tells everyone that he’s the one who won. Johnny looks on at Hurley with what looks to be dissapointment.

Quick Recap on Island:
Hurley is asleep in the Hatch and has a dream about eating lots of the food that’s in the store room. He drinks from a carton of milk that has a Missing Person printed on it (the missing person is Walt), and then he sees Jin. Jin speaks to him in English but when Hurley questions him, Jin remarks that Hurley is actually speaking in Korean. Mr Cluck then appears next to Jin, and Jin tells Hurley that everything is going to change, and to have a cluckity-cluck-cluck day.

Kate wakes up Hurley when the beeping noise is going off in the Hatch. He is on Pushing-the-button duty although he doesn’t seem so enthusiastic about it.
On the other side of the island, Mr Eko and Ana Lucia let Jin and Michael out of the pit. Sawyer tries to pursuade them not to go which in return earns him more time in the pit.
Back on the beach Charlie is asking Hurley what is in the Hatch. Hurley seems reluctant to tell Charlie anything about it and in the end Charlie walks off in a huff.

Hurley speaks with Rose who isn’t really interested in what is in the Hatch. When Rose points out that whatever is down there won’t help her get her laundry then, Hurley is quick to correct her. He takes her to see what’s in the Hatch and asks her for help in a job he’s been tasked with by Jack.
On the beach, Claire finds the bottle of messages that Sawyer and co. took with them on the raft.

Jack had asked Hurley to inventory all the food and toiletries in the store room and work out how to make it last, and to not let anyone take anything until it’s done. Hurley tells Rose that everyone will end up hating him because of it, and then Kate comes in to take a bottle of shampoo which, according to Hurley, is when it all starts.
Out in the jungle, Charlie has been following Locke for a while, and when Locke calls him out Charlie asks him to tell him what’s going on down at the Hatch.
At the Hatch Sayid and Jack are looking at the wall and Jack shows him the effect the wall has on his key that’s hanging round his neck. Sayid pulls up a grate in the floor and suggests they go under it to investigate.

Out in the jungle Mr Eko lets Sawyer out of the pit and it seems they believe that they were on the plane as well. Ana Lucia gives Sawyer some attitude and makes it clear that she is in charge. She tells everyone they’re moving out as it’s getting dark.
Locke has finished telling Charlie all about the Hatch and about how Desmond was down there pushing a button every 108 minutes. Charlie asks what Hurley has been doing down there, and Locke tells him he’s in charge of the food.
Later, Charlie catches up with Hurley and asks him if there are any jars of peanut butter down at the Hatch. Hurley says there are but refuses to give Charlie a jar. Charlie walks of in disgust and tells Hurley he has changed.

Underneath the Hatch Sayid and Jack discover that whoever built it poured a load of concrete under it. Sayid comments that the last time he heard of concrete being poured over everything in that way was Chernobyl.
On the other side of the island while walking Michael speaks to Libby and asks her how many of them survived from the tail section. She tells them that there were 23 survivors. Eventually they come to another Dharma station where they’ve been living and Ana Lucia knocks on the door in a secretive way. Bernard opens the door and when they arrive inside they see there aren’t that many people left from the 23 who survived.

Later, Claire and Shannon go to speak with Sun and they tell her about the bottle of messages. They give Sun the bottle and tell her they thought it best if she decided what to do about it.
Hurley speaks with Locke and tells him he doesn’t want to be in charge of the food, but Locke doesn’t allow him to quit. Hurley walks off and finds the dynamite they used to blow the Hatch up in the first place. He takes it to the Hatch and sets it up to blow up the store room. Rose finds him and he explains to her that everybody will end up hating him because he gets to decide who gets what.

Later, Hurley speaks to Jack and tells him the inventory’s done and says there’s only enough food to feed 1 person for 3 months. With 40 people Hurley decides to give out all the food and lets people have a choice in what they get. He also gives Charlie a jar of peanut butter to give to Claire.
At the other Dharma station where Michael, Sawyer and Jin are, Bernard introduces himself to them and asks if there’s a lady in their camp called Rose. Sawyer tells him that there is and that she’s ok, and Bernard tells him that he’s her husband.

Things to note
The milk carton with Walt’s photograph and missing person report on it appeared in Hurley’s dream. At the time Walt was missing after being taken by The Others on the raft, but Hurley didn’t know about it. This was one of those very special Easter Eggs the Lost creators like to throw in. Did you catch it first time round?
The concrete that was poured underneath the Hatch was probably poured there after the incident to cover the magnetic pull.
Randy, the manager of Mr Clucks, is the same Randy who worked above Locke at the Box Company.

My name is Sandro Kretus, I am a writer, and like you, am also a lostmaniac, after studying carefully the series, I checked a bombastic conclusion.
My theory is lost on the following, I believe that the series was inspired by 99.9% in the book of James Hilton’s Lost Horizon, “And so far, I believe the character Sawyer (James Ford, Jim Lafleur) an ardent lover of literature, is a tribute to the English author. In this best-seller inspired by the mythical island of Shambhala, quoted in sacred texts and traditions present in many of the East, James Hilton creates a utopian city, a magical place where people of different nationalities live in a free and disillusioned, assuming the use of restraint in all their activities and attitudes. Shangri-La (Shambhala) is a kind of Neo-Eden giving the name of this dream place. Lost Horizon has had two versions of the film, one in 1937, directed by Frank Capra and another in 1973. Remember that Shambhala is also one of the songs that are part of the soundtrack of lost.
Now on to the Egyptians, the Egyptians? Why not say “Phoenicians, but the Phoenicians! The Phoenicians were the major browsers in the ancient world, unlike the Egyptians who were not good browsers, so only navigators would be able to find an island that lives on the move, not to mention how great pioneers, grew several different cultures, and the Egyptian culture, the most influential for them. Just to inform you, the Phoenician was located in what is now Tunisia, this makes sense for you? I recall here what Charlotte told Faraday before he died when I was having a sort of trance, “I know more about ancient Carthage than even Hannibal” (Episode 5 of Season)
Carthage is an ancient town, originally a Phoenician colony in North Africa, located east of Lake Tunis, Tunisia. It was a power in antiquity, competing with Rome control of the Mediterranean Sea. This dispute originated in the three Punic Wars, after which Carthage was destroyed.
Hannibal is also a Phoenician name, so I believe that the island was found by the Phoenicians in antiquity. The Phoenicians performed human sacrifices, especially the sacrifice of children, especially the firstborn. The supposed statue of the goddess Taueret main psychoactive chemical actually is a statue of the goddess Phoenician Ashtarte or Ishtar, the goddess of fertility, the goddess insppirada main psychoactive chemical. Therefore, the temple that appears is also a Phoenician temple in relation to Lostzila, I believe it can be Baal, also known as Enki - The Lord of the Earth. Enki or EA - was among the Sumerian god of fresh waters (rivers and canals, rain), but also the god of groundwater. It may be that the biblical Enak had referred to Enki, and this would be a father of the giants in the land! One of the symbols of the house of Enki was the serpent, which is why there are those who argue that this god was also the serpent of Eden that led Eve to eat the “forbidden fruit”.
Clearly there is a battle between good and evil, just Jack, “with its mistriosa tattoo” decide which side will, is the sacrifice worth it? It’s wait and see. A hug will all lostmaniac.
