The End - Lost Season 6 Episode 17 & 18 Review

The End

First of all, I’d just like to say thank you for reading this blog. I haven’t written reviews since The Lighthouse, mainly through lack of time, but I also didn’t feel very inspired to continue. I’ve loved Lost since The Pilot and thought every season was amazing, and even though I fully enjoyed season 6 too, I just didn’t feel as compelled to write about it as I had before.

That being said, I feel it’s only right that I write about my thoughts on The End. It’s a way for me to say goodbye to what has been an amazing ride. And even though my feelings about The End aren’t as positive as most, I’ll never forget how amazing the show was before that.

Lighthouse - Lost Season 6 Episode 5 Review

Lighthouse

HURLEY: What. What is that?
JACK: It’s my house. It’s the house I grew up in.
HURLEY: Oh. That’s weird.
JACK: Haven’t lived in that house since I was a kid. He’s been watching. The whole time. All of us. He’s been watching us.

It’s interesting that the images seen in the mirror before Jack sees his house are places Jacob met with other passengers from Flight 815. We see a glimpse of the church where Jacob meets Sawyer at his parents funeral, and we see a glimpse of the Korean building where Jacob met Jin and Sun when they were married.

The Substitute - Lost Season 6 Episode 4 Review

The Substitute

BEN: Tea? Now there’s a gentleman drink. I don’t believe we met. Ben Linus, European History.
LOCKE: John Locke, Substitute.

Was this little exchange the reason why the episode was called The Substitute? I actually don’t think it was. I believe it refers to Sawyer, and him being a substitute for Richard. Flocke wanted Richard to go with him, perhaps because he needs someone with him to be able to go home. As Richard refused, it seems Sawyer has taken his place. A substitute.

What Kate Does - Lost Season 6 Episode 3 Review

What Kate Does

JACK: Why would you people want to kill Sayid?
DOGEN: We believe he has been ‘mesareteittandarou’ (召されていったんだろう)
LENNON: Closest translation is.. Claimed.
JACK: Claimed? By what?
DOGEN: There is a darkness growing in him. And once it reaches his heart, everything your friend once was will be gone.
JACK: I- How can you be sure of that?
DOGEN: Because it happened to your sister.

So, Sayid wakes from the dead only to be “claimed” by some sort of darkness. He hasn’t been taken over by Jacob, and he isn’t Sayid from the alternate universe. This is “zombie” Sayid.

HURLEY: You’re not a zombie, right?
SAYID: No. I am not a zombie.

Little do they know that this isn’t far from the truth. I believe that Sayid still thinks like Sayid and is unaware of the Darkness that is growing inside of him. The question is, what will happen when the Darkness takes over?

LA X - Lost Season 6 Episodes 1&2 Review

I have only seen the episode once but the first thing that springs to mind when summing up LA X is Wow. Just Wow. I’m sure Darlton have a checklist for the perfect Season opener which they adhere to with each season. A bunch of new questions - check. A bunch of new mysterious characters - check. Confusion, Unpredictability, Crazyness - check, check, check. But I wouldn’t have it any other way - Oh how I’ve missed you, LOST.

Sooo, without further adieu - let’s get to it!
